Fox Chase Farm Benefit Hunter Division

Fox Chase Farm has announced their new Benefit Hunter Division for 2010. The Benefit Hunter Division was created to raise support for select charities in 2010, including the Robert Duvall Children's Fund.

Fox Chase Farm is a privately owned facility that was purchased in 2000 by Mr. and Mrs. Timothy C. Hanley, of Fairfax County, Virginia. Mrs. Hanley, originally from Co. Limerick, Ireland always had a love of country; she passed that love onto her children. The Hanleys were delighted with the purchase of their new farm and Mr. Hanley had great ideas and worked closely with daughter, Maureen. Together they had a vision for the farm. Sadly, it was short lived as Mr. Hanley died unexpectedly in March 2002.

The farm always hosted shows, but Maureen wanted to do something special to honor her father. In late 2002, she formed the Timothy C. Hanley Memorial Fox Chase Hunter Show Series (TCH Fox Chase). The series awards top riders and trainers in what has become one of the most sought after shows in the area.

New Homes for Impoverished Familes

Thanks to many generous donations we are able to financially support the construction of a new home for Luis and his family, including an accessible restroom. This means the world to Luis, as it will alleviate many of the challenges he faces every day. For more information about Luis please go to the "how to help" section of our website. We have also posted pictures of the construction process under our "gallery" section.

Dear Friends,

We have heard from our contacts in Argentina and they are all doing well. Fortunately, it appears that the earthquake did not cause much damage in Argentina.

News reports have stated that previous earthquakes in Chile prepared them for Saturday's earthquake and ultimately minimized the death toll. They are receiving assistance from neighboring countries, government and international relief organizations. However, we continue to ask that everyone keep those that have suffered from the recent earthquakes in their thoughts and prayers as they mourn the loss of their loved ones and work towards the reconstruction of their homes. We will continue to track the situation and make assessments accordingly.

We are greatly saddened by this weekend’s earthquakes in Chile and Argentina. Chile’s 8.8-magnitude quake has taken the lives of over 700 people and has left many others in great need. Hours after Chile’s earthquake, Argentina suffered a 6.3-magnitude quake 15 miles north of Salta where two victims were reported dead.

We ask that you please keep all of the countries that have been affected by the recent earthquakes in your thoughts and prayers as rescue/relief efforts are underway. We appreciate your patience and support as we gather information during this difficult time. We will post updates on the situation as we receive information at http://rdchildrensfund.org.

Message from Robert Duvall

Dear Friends,

“Of the 774 million illiterate adults worldwide, 64% of them are women. For
example, for every 100 boys out of school in Yemen there are 270 girls, in Iraq 316
girls, in India 426 girls, and in Benin 257 girls” (UNESCO, 2007).

As the world changes and evolves into a more complex society, it is important to equip
our youth with the tools necessary to succeed. Through education we have the
opportunity to help the young female population realize their dreams.

At the Robert Duvall Children’s Fund, we believe that the best way to fight this inequity
is to empower these young girls through education. By giving them access to the
resources and training they need to increase their income, maintain their own health and
the health of their families they can achieve greater equity in their homes, workplaces,
and communities. All of this will go a long way to drastically reduce illiteracy and
poverty in these parts of the world.

I would like to invite you to join me and the Father and Daughter Alliance in
promoting female child education as a right, with special reference to India. By sending a
letter, you are joining me in asking fathers in India to consider enrolling their daughter(s)
in school alongside their son(s). My wife, Luciana, and I are sponsoring 20 girls right
now from the ages of 3 to 16. We are so happy to have the opportunity to help these
families.
